Grammarly Review: Step Up your Writing Game!

Poor grammar means poor communication. Having a proper grammar and unique content is crucial for a blogger and magazine writer like me. People read my writings, and to keep them that way, I must make sure that my words are precise and comprehensible. That’s why I always turn to this user-friendly proofreading tool called Grammarly.

Grammarly was introduced to me by my thesis adviser in college. Aside from hiring a professional proofreader, we had to use the app in order be certain that our paper was free of copyright infringement. He lent us a premium account, so I was able to try its unique features, and that's when I realized that Grammarly is an essential for every journalist out there.

Not only it offers an application, but Grammarly also has a browser extension which is very helpful for online content writers. I admit that my blog has had a series of grammar mistakes and silly spellings because of my unwariness, and most of the time, I had had to recheck the published ones before I realized that there were several errors in my post. Well, that was a bummer until I decided to use Grammarly not just for my research paper but also for my blog.

As you can see here, the app highlights the incorrect use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Additionally, if you hover over the mistake listed on the right, you just need to click it, and Grammarly will then correct it for you. This feature is particularly useful for people who are in a rush and need to be done with their writing as soon as possible.

The plagiarism feature has been beneficial for me, especially during the time when we were working on our thesis. The app highlights the part that contains similar content with other web pages and indicates the link. It also includes a percentage of the copied texts, so you’ll quickly know how much of your ideas are unoriginal. This way, you can easily paraphrase and provide proper citation. You can then download a detailed report of your work that shows the overall score and plagiarism percentage. However, this feature is not included in the free subscription.

Grammarly is free to use for everyone, but if you’d like to step up your writing skills, then I advise that you subscribe to their premium plan. The monthly subscription price ranges from $29.95 to $11.66 depending on the chosen type.
